Mentos and Diet Coke 2.0

Well after all that, Revver allows embedding. Too bad WordPress doesn’t allow it, or I’d post the “approved by producers” version here. All I can do instead is link to it on Raj’s blog here.

For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s a video by two mad scientist types (one is allegedly a mad lawyer/scientist!) of a frolicing fiesta of fountains of diet coke and mentos.

Enjoy. And if you figure out how to embed it in a wordpress blog, let me know.

Good lord! It’s OUT OF CONTROL!!!

I can see undergraduates all over the world rolling up their sleeves and donning wetsuits for this one.

Has anyone ever figured out why they used DIET Coke and not regular? Seems to me regular is fizzier. There must be a reason; it can’t just be that they didn’t want their lab coats to get fat.

I’m going to test diet versus regular coke with the mentos thing. Shall report back.

I love the mentos diet coke experiment. I did it with my 4 year old this weekend. He learned about what a chemical reaction is and what volcano looks like when it erupts. Pretty cool. We found another site with cool science experiments like this. I will post it below for anyone interested.

[ed note: and I will take it out again, because it looks like a straight-up splog. Not one link to sources. Something tells me permission to reprint wasn't obtained, nor even asked]
