September 11, Still

So there I was doing my ordinary Affiliate linking, when I came across the following, on the ShareASale site, and I thought I’d share it, because it kicks ass. So here it is:

ShareASale will be closed for the day of September 11, 2009, in memory of those lives lost, and to honour the heroes from that morning and thousands of other mornings when peace was chosen over war. The events of September 11, 2001 touched millions of us both here in the United States of America, and abroad. For each life that was stolen, a memory and a legacy was left behind to carry – and for those who carry them, life has changed forever.

Each year, we close our offices today and we encourage others to take this day in rememberance not only of what was lost, but also in celebration of everything that we have in our lives. The families of victims from that morning would give anything to spend one morning with their loved ones, we encourage you to go out and live today to the fullest that you can. Affiliate Marketing can wait until another day.

We will never forget those who lost their lives, or those who gave their lives in the hope of saving another.

Recognizing that there may be urgent situations, although we hope that there are not, we have setup the following.

For urgent needs, Merchants are able to login to their accounts by visiting here: Merchant Login

For urgent needs, Affiliates are able to login to their account here: Affiliate Login

All tracking for transactions will be working as normal today, however, any fees that ShareASale would normally collect will be donated to the International Relief Fund, managed by the Red Cross. Donations to this fund go towards helping the Red Cross assist and aid in tragedies that occur all over the world, and you can add your donation by visiting the Red Cross here.

What did you do today, raincoaster?

funny pictures of cats with captions

What did I do today? Besides this post?

  • raincoaster, caught on film
  • WordCamp Fraser Valley: Creativity and WordPress
  • Happy Birthday to Hugh (Grant)
  • nothing else much, thank god, even though I was supposed to go over to Carinthia’s house and huck bags of earth and rock onto a pickup truck, truck it out to the dump, pay for the right to dump said dirt, and do so, thereupon returning. Given that I seem to have hurt my back, hucking something in the vicinity of 1800 lbs of rocks up onto a truck bed and then down onto the ground was not an activity to which I was looking forward with any great enthusiasm, $20 notwithstanding.

So instead I hung out at Carinthia’s, drank coffee, and made a deal: I’ll go out to her son’s locker in Langley or Ladner or Louisville or one of those L words and pick up the rack of bull moose horns and bring it downtown. In return, she’ll give me the eight-point rack of deer antlers.

So I at least made ONE good deal today!

raincoaster, caught on film!

Contrary to the rumours going around, I do in fact register on film and even show up in mirrors from time to time, though never for very long, lest I shatter the glass. I learned my lesson from that portrait session; replacing lenses is pricey!

So her is a shot of me and my pal Uni Corn at Workspace (RIP), just to prove that not only can we both be caught on film, but also nuts to all the people who say I no longer qualify for hanging out with unicorns, so there nyeah. I am a Charter Member of the Royal Society of Unicorn Watchers, I’ll have you know.

Uni Corn and me

He says: “Web Cafes are a great place to pick up chicks” and we all know that chicks love a unicorn!

We are currently in discussions to form an alliance against the Meerkat Conspiracy. Will keep you informed! A coalition of unicorns, fairies, and raincoaster’s army would be insurmountable!

So to speak.
