marc broussard’s “Home,” bayou soul interlude

I’ve got a fair number of friends who are more musically inclined and musically sophisticated than I am, but I stumbled across this all mine own self (well, I found it on Taylor is the Boogie mine own self, well with the help of WordPress Hot Posts), so I feel very proud. This is worthy of going up against the best.

UPDATE: and fuck Universal Music Group, who took down the video. If they cared enough about their artists to read the comments, they’d see this video sold them an album. And now they have two official versions, embedding disabled on both. Why? Because you want your artists to be less widely known and less popular? Perfect strategy, guys.

  1. I’ve had his album Carencro in my CD player, on my computer, and on my mp3 player for over a year. Thought I’d played it for you at least once….This song is hot hot hot, a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10. The other songs on the album are all strong 8.5s.

  2. I don’t recall it, but it’s quite possible that you did. But with music, I find you have to be in the right frame of mind for it to sink in; I had a particular U2 song for six weeks before the words sank in and I had my lightbulb moment.

  3. See what I mean about having friends more musically sophisticated than me?

Once, I walked into work absolutely suffused with smugness. I had finally bought a “contemporary” album. I showed it off proudly, until one of my youngers looked me straight in the eye and said, “Lorraine, this is Billy Idol, and it is fifteen years old.”

    Wince.

  4. I love this….absolutely. The feeling and heart that I get from this is amazing. Time to get on LimeWire…..nope…..time to get to Amazon. This is one artist that deserves my money.
