Walken to dial down the weird

Walken plays pool just like you, and when he's done he makes gold records! It’ll be a blow to his longtime fans, but cinematic icon and soul-blackened master of the bizarre Christopher Walken is to take on the most challenging role of his career.

In a complete reversal of his normal role-seeking priorities, Walken has chosen a character who, despite an outward appearance of berserk, orgiastic hedonism, actually possesses the soul of a retired bee-keeper in the Cotswolds.

Christopher Walken is to play Ozzy Ozbourne. Defamer has the rest:

Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil told ABC News Radio in an exclusive interview that the 63-year-old Oscar-winning actor will make a cameo appearance as Osbourne in “The Dirt,” a movie based on the band’s controversial 2001 autobiography…

…other stars are going to appear in the film as rock stars, including Val Kilmer as David Lee Roth.

Both of those men are going to have to dial the weird RIGHT DOWN in order to play these rock gods. And, I imagine, they’ll be blowing off a lot of pent-up steam with the extras later.

Play safe, boys! Rough play with airborne blood particles must only take place in a properly tarped zone…

  1. Well you got that right – Walken playing Ozzy is like the flip side of Hugh Grant trying to play Nathan Gale. I mean, I’m sure Walken is lovely but…. that’s without comparison to Ozzy – a bit like comparing the family rottweiler to the Andrex puppy, albeit a very drunk Andrex puppy.

  2. What the hell is “Andrex”? A brand name?

It’s a shame to see Walken wasting his talents; more of a shame than seeing Dennis Hopper waste his, for Walken is far more talented. I still want to see the rest of the Prophesy movies (only seen the first one).

  3. ‘Andrex’ is a brand of toilet tissue; soft, strong and very very long, and has been advertised, since around the time of the Norman invasion, by a cute little blonde Labrador puppy, bit like Boris.

Allow me a quick rant? People who state ‘truths’, like on the BJ blog right now, really piss me off. Especially when it’s a serious subject that matters. Especially when they are used to ‘back up’ a personal insult. Especially when no evidence is cited to back up anything. I have to take the mickey ’cause I’d just go for the throat with those insults and I’d have to disallow my own comments. URRRGGGGAH!

  4. I’m still having trouble getting on Boris’ site. The forum is much fun, though. Personal insults in forums totally rule! You should see what Murphy said about newmania, and what newmania said about Murphy. Good to see some blood on the walls.

Or is it Boris you’re mad at?

  5. Can’t say I’m enjoying the paedophile thread – I knew it would bring all manner of misogynists and gits out of the woodwork. I did stick up for you though, not that you needed it.

  6. Thanks. I wonder if Melissa will leave it; that guy’s a waste of carbon atoms. I do think you’re being a bit hard on the newbie, though; he did seem to try to stick to the points, and yes he disagrees, but he does seem to do so at least politely. I’m not getting where the offence lies, but perhaps that’s a cultural gap I’m failing to bridge.

I’m most surprised at idlex’s remarks; surely he can tell the difference between rape and consensual sexual activity, but his post seems to indicate he finds anything that doesn’t leave permanent physical damage as perfectly normal.

  7. You mean Tayles? Come off it raincoaster – “While I sympathise with Jaq’s fears, it is precisely this skewed view of the world which we need to challenge. It’s little wonder that we have the lost the ability to make a rational assesment” so I have a skewed view of the world and am not rational? That’s sticking to the point is it? Give over. “The truth is that the number of child attacks in this country is remarkably low and has been for decades” really? Low compared to what exactly? And that’s the truth? According to whom? What’s his source? He offered to say, I invited him to. Quite amusingly I thought – my replies were not without humour. I did not say he was inferior to me. I’m never surprised at idlex’s remarks. I remember Mac being especially wound up by them. Gosh I miss Mac don’t you? But even he couldn’t lighten this thread. We’d just spend all night drinking wine and talking on the phone.

  8. I really do miss Mac. If he were still around I wouldn’t be so petrified of poetry; I’m living in fear of getting that horny Eliza warmed up, and I always feel like gouging out my eyeballs after reading one of her Harlequin romances.

  9. Ha! YOU do it!

Are you going to join the forum? I like it. All off-topic, all the time. I like this Murphy and Hero’s got a head on his shoulders, too. idlex is there, but he hasn’t said much yet.
