This is only rational behaviour. Women slightly outnumber men, meaning that there are over four billion of them. Whereas a good mountain bike is hard to find. As opposed, apparently, to an office bike.
A good mountain bike, however, is cheaper to replace. One would think you’d have figured this out by now.

And quite frankly, they aren’t that hard to replace. There are loads parked outside any number of college campuses. A man with a determined attitude and a hacksaw–or even a ball point pen–can have his pick without his wallet ever seeing the light of day. And with a good padlock and a length of chain he can probably keep it as long as he likes.
Which is not true of women, or at least not as many of them, experientially speaking.
