This weird critter is a vent octopus, ie one that hangs around geothermal vents in the seabed, looking for tasty crustaceans upon which to nosh. It’s true what the prosthesis designer on POTC2 believed: pale tentacles totally outclass mottled purple on the Ick Scale.

the ickiest animal that i can remember seeing are pink frogs. the pet store here has them in periodically. they look like swimming fetuses and are downright freaky. i always avoid looking in their tank.
Pink frogs? That DOES sound gross, although I figure good ol’ BC banana slugs give them a run for their money in the ugly stakes. What say you?
