Technorati Favorite me!

Wow!
Obviously the photographer got out, but who knows about the deer. Sebastian Junger’s book Fire is an amazing examination of the phenomenon, packed with facts.
Yeah, it kind of reminded me of that scene in Bambi … doubt the deer got out.
Amazing how awesome – even beautiful – total destruction like that can look.
I first saw this image about five years ago when it was emailed to me. I thought it was stunning then and still do now. I would love to get hold of a full sized version that I could put into a decent print.
Apparently the original photographer (I can’t remember if it’s the guy that’s put the copyright on it) was working in an official capacity and was not allowed to sell the image to make money from it. He decided to put it in the public domain and try and raise awareness of forest fires.
IIRC he said that the deer did survive the fire.
Cool! Thanks for the update, Collin. Maybe if you contacted the AICC they would sell you a print? They’re much more savvy now in government than they used to be.
