Stupido here is possibly the world’s dumbest crook. Along with a gang of pals, he posed as a member of a Portugese camera crew, and helped out a team filming in Hong Kong. They worked steadily, and apparently professionally, as a camera crew for two full days before pulling a disappearing act with all the gear that belonged to the independent television company they’d been assisting.
From BoingBoing:
“We’re a small, independent television production company in Hong Kong… last week, a group of con men ripped off a load of very expensive professional tv gear from us… cameras, tripods, a recording deck, wireless microphones… lots of stuff. They were posing as a Portuguese production company… very professional-seeming. They even shot footage of Hong Kong with our crew for two days before they did a runner with the gear! At any rate, we got a photograph of one of them, who for some reason thought it would be okay to pose for a tourist snapshot CARRYING THE CAMERA HE WAS ABOUT TO STEAL.”
UPDATE: they seem to be Brazilian rather than Portugese, and there is VIDEO of them here.
Thanks for linking to the story… we’ve also created a short video about the theft, which we’ve placed on YouTube. The URL is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bFUlUjK6YY . Please help spread the word… somewhere, somebody knows this mook!

I wanted to let you know that the guys are almost 100% not Portuguese and more likely Brazilians because of the following reasons:
1) The card shows several language errors, has Brazilian people often do (it’s like UK English and American English).
a. It shows “Diretor” instead of “Director”
b. It shows “Fone” instead of “Tel” (or “Phone”) has we Portuguese do.
2) The phone number is a cell phone from Vodaphone Portugal. (and the one in the whois is from Switzerland!)
3) “Roberto Fernandez” is a Spanish name (it can be from any Spanish speaking country)
4) The site shows a Portuguese address but it’s hosted on a Brazilian site as you can see from the whois of the url.
5) The camera man os Khaon Koesel that isn’t a Portuguese name.
I hope that they catch them but please at least put Portuguese or Brazilian guys , and yes I’m portuguese!
Thanks. They were posing and Portugese, but you’re right; they are far more likely Brazillian.
