Wow–pathetic and hysterical at the same time. I can see why you had an affinity for it.
Aren’t you sweet. Is it that time of the month for you?
I think you may be taking something a mite too personally, no? Is it … Ah, let the question rest unanswered.
Why are you so tetchy lately? Call the cops on some squirrels or something why doncha.
No–no. I feel you’ve misunderstood me. Let me restate:
This video is amazingly powerful. The lengths to which Kiwi goes to reach a dream … I’m a bit lost here: are they the best part of us? I dunno. At the same time his efforts are ultimately both futile and funny.
And I really do see why you liked it.
Not that you’re never pathetic or hysterical, you understand. Squirrely enough for an oak forest, anyway. But I wasn’t referring to that here.
Completely off topic but I forgot to answer you about Traci Lords. But tomorrow night on VH1 is her episode on their new Paranormal show. I think it’s tomorrow. I also found new pictures of her and I’ll get those for you later. It’s rare to find new pictures on her. The VH1 link to that show is:

So, maybe I’m just a little over-emotional today…but that kinda bought a tear to my eye (just in time for kiwi’s tears as well).
Anyway, I think it could actually be considered an interesting exploration of Beyond the Pleasure Principle and Freud’s exposition on the death drive. Without going into too much detail because it’ll show everyone that I don’t fully understand the sexist Austrian prick, there’s a part of it about being driven to die but in the way that best suits you. You spend your whole life trying to build up the correct tension to provide the death that you actually want. Your ideal death.
That plus some bullshit about not giving up on your dreams no matter what the odds…but that’s not quite depressing enough on its own
In short, excellent video
Metro; you do better with a bigger wordcount. Something to remember for the future.
Capri, thanks. I will look forward to it!
Alabaster, thanks for that. An interesting insight, and it fits perfectly.
Look up the Death drive..Its very interesting. While I read BtPP for my dissertation most of my genuine understanding of it came from a very good but exceedingly bafflinf post-structuralist lecture on ‘The Uncanny’ by Nicholas Royle, leading expert on the field and general bit of old but intelligent fresher candy for The Sussex Uni English department. That is until the enfant terrible Keston came along and messed shit up with his Marxist poetry and rejection of traditional literature. He’s all talk though. Very enthusiastic though. Lots of leg rubbing.
Uh…what was I saying?

I’ll see if I can find that lecture anywhere online. You never know what people will stick on the internet!
And thanks for the link!
Anything that can brighten up my morning whilst bringing a tear to my eye is worth a link. And US are quite fascist about not letting people get the lectures. Wikipedia does seem to bear out my summary of the death drive though…so maybe I’m not the idiot I though I was.
Re. #8: Probably.
