We all have our touchstones; the photograph of a child, a stone from the beach on which we fell in love, the first dollar we ever earned, a hard-won diploma, high school trophies wrapped in tissue paper and fond memories…
Here’s an ancient video Rosetta Stone from the previous century which purports to be the very first time the Thunderbirds were recorded on film. The premise that the ‘birds were merely puppets is, of course, the kind of elaborate conceit for which the French intellectuals of the mid-Twentieth Century were so well known. As we are all aware, the Thunderbirds were every bit as real as the constant threat of Communist invasion.
Who’s with me? Team Thunderbird: Operation GenX initiated! F.A.B.!!!

Ah Thunderbirds. My childhood favourite.
“Yus me lady” said Parker!
Thunderbirds rocked. I always wanted to grow up to be Lady Penelope, only with a spaceship. Having a ninja-trained butler in space would be The Coolness!
And I wanted to be Virgil Tracy with the heavy-lift capability, if you get my meanin’ . . . .
Believe it or not, while I was growing up in England, Thunderbirds was one time where I got to hear plenty of American accents on television. I’ve got to go back through my folks’ record collection – I actually had little mini-33’s of a few episode soundtracks. And somewhere in my collection of FineScale Modelers, I’ve got plans for scratchbuilding Thunderbird 1 . . . . .
Not to mention all the Barry Gray ‘shares’ hidden away . . . .

Okay then: we await your finished Thunderbird 1 with baited breath. Nuclear Commie Squid-baited breath.
