It took more than thirty years, but we’ve finally done it. We broke the American dollar.
Now for all the National Post articles claiming this is bad for our country. Of course it is: because you chained us to your bloody Conservative trade policy of bending over and giving the Americans anything they wanted. I only hope it ruins the venal minority who thrust this, unwanted, upon our country.

Still, Canadians are barred from the Solheim Cup. Tragic, an’t it?
The wha?
Sorry. Total disagreement here. This isn’t good news when your economy is chained, not by trade agreements but by geography, to a nation whose leadership has bankrupted her to the tune of $9 trillion.
The mill down the street closed the day the dollar hit 99¢. Could be co-incindence, I suppose. But I have yet to understand how making it more expensive for our biggest trading partner to purchase goods and services from us.
I work, like many Canadians, for a company headquartered in the States. If the dollar cost of maintaining our office becomes a disadvantage, I could be out of a job.
So I prefer it when the dollar is at about 85¢ …
Not that it isn’t kind of a kick to read the phrase “The US dollar dropped to 99.5¢ yesterday.”
