an infallible self-esteem booster!

Found a great way to game the Technorati Blogworth Calculator, and since it’s been broken for quite some time and hasn’t increased my blog’s value I feel no compunction whatsoever in giving it a nudge. If it’s going to artificially depress my blog value by not counting the 30 more blogs that have linked to me since it last upgraded me, I’m not going to lie awake at night tormented by guilt that I input Gawker to the calculator, grabbed the resultant code, changed the URL and came up with a slightly revised figure for the ol’ raincoaster blog:

My blog is worth $4,025,170.20.
How much is your blog worth?

  1. That blog calculator thing isn’t dynamic. It gets the value of your blog the first time you use it, and that’s it.

It’s just a scheme so that the guy who’s running it can get people to link to him. I wrote about it here.

And you can’t deny that it works. He has 30,400 links to his blog because of it.

  2. Oh, I checked this out and KNEW it would be a link to his blog, but I thought it was so much fun I’d give it to him: he earned it.

And I didn’t mean it was ACTUALLY dynamic: I know it’s not. But it did, until about three weeks ago, increase your $ when you re-input your blog, because it scanned with Technorati and if your blog was Technorati-ing higher, your dollar amount would go up. I’ve gone up 20,000 places on Technorati and my blogworth calculator hasn’t budged. If it doesn’t increase in another couple of weeks when I check, I’m disabling the link and just gonna make up my own damn numbers.
