Wow, looks like it’s Tory Day here on the ol’ raincoaster blog. Take a snapshot; these don’t come around too often. Mostly we’re all about the nude hot-tubbing with Rage Against the Machine, making blood sacrifices to Cthulhu, and sharing pot brownies with the United Slackers of Anarchy.
We certainly are being far more inclusive than it was ever our intention to be this Yuletide season. Sure, we’ve posted Christmas on Acid, but hey, I live in Vancouver; like this pandering to the druggies is anything unusual. The Charlie Brown Kwanzaa was a bit of a stretch, it’s admitted, but if you’re gonna be un-PC, I say be un-PC all the way and damn the torpedos of all races, creeds, and colourways. Boymongoose’s Bollywood 12 Days of Christmas has a rockin’ beat that I couldn’t pass up, and the same can be said (in its own delicate Coward-ly way) for Hanukkah in Santa Monica. As for the 12 isms of Christmas, who doesn’t have a spare Nihilist or Surrealist in their circle who feels all too marginalized at this time of year?
So here I am, holding my nose and posting the synopsis for the Ayn Rand Selfish Christmas Special, from the 10 Least Successful Holiday Specials of All Time, which I found via Master Cowfish.
Ayn Rand’s A Selfish Christmas (1951)
In this hour-long radio drama, Santa struggles with the increasing demands of providing gifts for millions of spoiled, ungrateful brats across the world, until a single elf, in the engineering department of his workshop, convinces Santa to go on strike. The special ends with the entropic collapse of the civilization of takers and the spectacle of children trudging across the bitterly cold, dark tundra to offer Santa cash for his services, acknowledging at last that his genius makes the gifts — and therefore Christmas — possible. Prior to broadcast, Mutual Broadcast System executives raised objections to the radio play, noting that 56 minutes of the hour-long broadcast went to a philosophical manifesto by the elf and of the four remaining minutes, three went to a love scene between Santa and the cold, practical Mrs. Claus that was rendered into radio through the use of grunts and the shattering of several dozen whiskey tumblers. In later letters, Rand sneeringly described these executives as “anti-life.”

Technorati me!
Poor people can’t help poor people…And without rich people paying the bills, the “poor” would not have a Christmas.
You cannot help others, or yourself, unless you love and make yourself rich with funds in the first place. The Left needs to pay attention to this fact:
Poor people can’t help poor people…
The second fact is that “socialism is great, until it runs out of money” and when that happens, then there is no Christmas for anyone.
The Left loves being poor and martyrs, it gives them a great excuse for not achieving, and not being successful, and wallowing around in their failed personalities feeling sorry for themselves.
And nothing is asked of the poor, no one asks or researches why they are poor…The Left is lazy and has one standard answer, which they mouth like a religious mantra….The rich made the poor poor….Oh puleeze. The Rich do not benefit or make any money…when there are poor people. The rich only benefit when everyone has a decent income…and spends money. DUH!
No one criticizes the poor for not sending their kids to school, even though their kids get a free education, free lunch, free breakfast, free transportation, free medication and health care, and so much other “free” stuff…that it creates an ongoing generational dependency…which does not phase those on the left…who get their ego kicks from feeling sorry for the poor.
Worse…the Left has been paying the poor to “breed” more poor, so that there will be an eternal dependent voting constituency. The Left…loves the poor being poor. What a nasty little secret that is…
The “rich” give more money and do more good for the poor….than the entire budget of the federal government. The federal government wastes more money…and give it to those who don’t work…as a means of buying votes. The LEFT is totally corrupt.
The Left never learns…they simply engage in the most base emotions to explain everything. The Left is jealous of those who are successful and function in the real world. So, just keep on being jealous and seek revenge against the “rich” and people who value themselves more than you value yourself.
The philosophy of “reason”…honesty and ethics, which you call “selfish” is coming to the forefront, because that massive Pity Party on the Left has left this country in a mess. The Left could learn something if they read Ayn Rand…and, its always obvious that people who don’t like her…never read her…
Judy Weismonger PhD
“Without rich people the poor people would not have Christmas.”
Judy, sweets, we can tell that PhD isn’t in theology or logic.
For those who need reminding.
I’d say that “someone” with a PhD is a bit bitter and possibly has a very pointy stick up her ass.
You wouldn’t think there’d be room, what with her head up there.
And she says she’s a social worker? I wonder how her workflow goes:
*opens door, ushers in new client*
“Now then, what can we do for you?”
“I’m injured and would like to go on worker’s compensation until I am well enough to return to work.”
“IT’S YOUR OWN FAULT! NEXT!”
Methinks Ms PhD is lying, or is not a social worker, or rather it terrible at her job. If I had ever encountered a social worker like her I surely would have found a better one, who was actually trained to do her job. Ya know, help people?
Oy.
Thanks for the comedy gold, RC! LOLz!
OMCC I JUST SAW FDR’S HEAD IN TEH FIRE I LOVE YOU!
Glad you liked it. One is right to distrust someone with a PhD who is only working as a social worker, and who claims to have ambitions towards riches. Nobody becomes a social worker for the bling, trust me.
This is common knowledge.
