Leave it to the Japanese to make a toilet training device with no sense of shame but an overdeveloped sense of theatre and the bizarre. Stolen from JapanProbe, here is the Shimajiro Toilet Training video. Over at JP they have the actual sounds the machine makes as MP3 files as well: if only this little device looked like the Dora the Explorer aquapet, my day would be complete!
Wow. It’s a simple set of instructions on how to build a nation of polite, well-behaved, entirely delightful serial killers.
Love the “V for victory”.
Wait! I’ve just realized–this may be the solution to the cat problem. Hell–they even use cats in the video! Now if you could persuade the cat to use this gadget, I would actually pay to fly you out here first-class.
Hoooooooowww-dee ho, Mr Hankey – – –
This is one that my DIL missed in her hunt for automated and battery-powered baby stuff. Ah, but there is still time. Toilet training will begin next summer, so she can avail herself of this oh-so-necessary gizmo. Thanks for the laugh!
laughing fecal matter…i never thought of that when i was potty training boy. however, the most fun was seeing bran announce to an entire bar full of slightly tipsy dart players (saturday afternoon tournament) that he had to “go potty.” laughter was had by all.
i have to wonder about the rail thing at the front of the toilet. that’s just asking for a foot in the toilet. which reminds me of a friend who convinced boy that to pee quietly all he had to do was stick his foot in teh toilet and pee down his leg. it took me weeks to convince him that wasn’t a good idea.
I thought the rail thing was just a Japanese-ism for “we’re too squeamish to show a stream of pee, so we invented a toilet handle”.
Man, that toilet bowl looks like a helluva lotta fun, judging by the giggles.
I think Pantsu Pankurou is better for slightly older kids than Shimajiro
