The second in our ongoing series of accordion interpretations of Nine Inch Nails songs. This is the emotionally fraught and somewhat overwrought “Head Like a Hole” from their first album, Pretty Hate Machine. Truly, there is nothing like a good, solid accordion version to put solipsistic emo thrashings in perspective, eh?

Neato torpedo! Reminds me of an all-girl accordion band version of Grand Funk’s “We’re an American Band” I heard years ago.
That would be a little less weird than this, I would think. If there’s one thing NIN is known for (besides screaming emo) it’s the use of high tech. The only thing that would make this even worse, from their point of view, is adding a penny whistle and some spoons to it.
I dunno – staccato accordion while singing ‘ . . . all the chiquitas in Omaha . . .’ can be fairly odd. Besides, this video adds a delightful Threepenny Opera motif . . .
Well, get thee to YouTube for the comparison. I figure pretty much everything in the world will be posted there sooner or later, including Catherine the Great’s equestrienne home movies.
Couldn’t you just see Lotte Lenya in a black hairdo?
A cheap Dynel wig, actually.
