Yeah, definitely NSFW. And NSFLunch, either, unless it’s your intention to become bulimic. Here’s the IM exchange between Foley and a 16 year-old male page, which is racier than the emails. From ABC News, via Fark. We’re farking heavily today, for whatever reason.
A snippet:
Maf54 (7:46:33 PM): did any girl give you a haand job this weekend
Xxxxxxxxx (7:46:38 PM): lol no
Xxxxxxxxx (7:46:40 PM): im single right now
Xxxxxxxxx (7:46:57 PM): my last gf and i broke up a few weeks agi
Maf54 (7:47:11 PM): are you
Maf54 (7:47:11 PM): good so your getting horny
Xxxxxxxxx (7:47:29 PM): lol…a bit
Maf54 (7:48:00 PM): did you spank it this weekend yourself
Yeah, that’s enough for my tummy. How about you?
Did this guy not read the memos his staff probably wrote on tracking “those sickos”? Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.
Yes. Really, thank god for stupidity. It makes it easy to catch morons like this.
Look at the less bleak side – if you’re going to have pederasts , why not stupid ones like Foley who get caught before they can complete the act despite the protection of their Republican overlords.
By the way, anybody know that Dennis Hastert was a high school wrestling coach? Just food for thought . . . . >B^D>
Ah yes, Republicans:
The party of shoplifting, racial bias, intolerance and religious hatred, bigotry, bribery, pandering, torture, murder, and all those other American values they embody.
And yes, methinks Hastert doth protest too much. Especially about covering it up for so long. D’you think they pimped for each other perhaps?
Am I missing something? Why would anyone re-elect these twits (or indeed elect them in the first place)? Why is there an election being held? Couldn’t the US just save some time by suspending habeas corpus and jailing them all now?
By the way–Fox is blaming it on the Dems. Check it out at Cynical-C.
IF you want to be sickened even more, read some of the unabridged transcript on loljesus…what a sick bastard
this gets better still. now we hear that there were staffers who knew about this, like since 2003 , who knew what foley was doing, apparently staffers in hasterts own office. and then there are the former pages who are coming forward with their stories regarding exchanges they claim to have had with him 10 years ago! and oh yeah, lets not talk about the $100,000 ‘donation’ made to the congressional committe that tom reynolds chairs. so … how many teenage boys, exactly, is a republican congressional majority worth, i wonder?
and aren’t the republicans sort of a repressive and almost self-loathing bunch? (what else do you call it when a congressionman with a fetish for teenager boys passionately lobbies against ‘those sickos’ … as he called them?)
heavens
You think that’s bad?
Passionate America just posted the name and pictures one of Foley’s victims.
There is no dignity in America anymore.
Edited by raincoaster to add; Particularly not when people like you pass the link around, eedjut. Link deleted.
This person was not 16 when the sexually explicit emails were exchanged he was 18 years old. And, Mr. Edmund has now hired McVeigh’s Criminal Defense Lawyer, why would he need a defense lawyer if he is the victim — why not just a trial lawyer, he hasn’t been accused of any wrongdoing as far as I’m aware. Also, how did this kid get a job so high up in Senator Istook’s Gubernatorial campaign in Oklahoma this year? Something fishy is going on, IMHO…
It really seems there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye – not that I’m defending in any way Foley’s actions – they are still reprehensible and inexcusable, but if these sexually explicit emails were exchanged between adults, then it was very irresponsible for ABC to report otherwise leading people across the country to believe he was engaging in these activities with a child…

Oh, and don’t forget Newt Gingrich explaining on Fox news that though G.O.P aides knew about this as early as 2002, they didn’t do anything about it because “they would also have been accused of gay-bashing.”
W T F ? ! ?
This would seem to explain why they’re also against gay marriage–they think it’s “pedophile marriage.” I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Would someone PLEASE clear this up for them?
Sixteen or not, “legal” age or not, I’m not cool with an authority figure abusing their position to solicit sex–licit or not–from teenagers. If I may use this appropriate moment for literary self-abuse:
“[A]long with that fourteen-year-old age of consent fiction come some caveats:
1) Age difference matters. There is a world of difference between a twenty-year-old £µ©λing a fifty-year-old and a sixteen-year-old £µ©λing a fifty-two-year-old.
2) Power matters: a person in a position of authority such as a cop, parent or guardian, employer or representative, or presumably any elected officer has a moral duty to protect kids, even from their own desires.
Foley seems not to have actually £µ©λed any of his contacts, and they seem to have been willing enough to chat about their sex lives with him. So all he’s strictly guilty of is being a moralizing hypocritical @$$#0|3. And a closeted moralizing hypocritical @$$#0|3 at that.
But as you’ll see, the GOP’s loaded with those.”

Hey Metro, you should really think about what you say before you say it!
Shoplifting? – Come on, can you really say this is a republican problem?
Racial Bias? – Give me one example of this that you won’t find on the other side of the isle?
Intolerance and religious hatred? – Which party wants religion removed from just about everywhere? NOT REPUBLICANS!
I’m bored so I’ll skip a few!
Torture? – What’s wrong with it, those tortured terrorists would love to torture you! (somewhat kidding)
Murder? – I assume you are talking about capital punishment? Eye for an Eye! Also, how come that’s murder but abortion is okay? I think this is a matter of moral opinion.
And as far as the American Values are concerned, you’ll find good republicans and bad ones, just like the democrats. Don’t judge us all that way, it’s not fair…
@ Dave, with respect:
Did you visit the link?
Religious intolerance is about forcing your religion onto those who don’t share your beliefs–the current government is all about that: check its AIDS, sex ed, and abortion policies.
“Torture? What’s wrong with it?” I assume you’re joking.
The Democrats certainly have corrupt members, but in the modern Republican party privelege, connivance, and corruption seem to be rooted in the very foundation. Lincoln and Roosevelt are dead, and their principles with them.
The Dems have their scandals. But they rarely thunder on “moral” issues because they have to be a party of acceptance, subtelty and nuance–attributes the GOP doesn’t have to bother with. And oddly they also don’t show the same degree of hypocrisy.
The murders I’m referring to would be things like the torture deaths at Abu Ghraib, the proxy war between Israel and Hizbullah, the hundred-thousand or so deaths originating in the Sideshow War, etc.
But none of this matters, as long as you insist that the party that’s sold so cheaply everything America ever stood for is somehow making you “safer”.
You raised a point I hadn’t thought of, though: “Republicans” might be taken to mean people who have registered as Republicans, or ordinary Joes and Janes such as yourself who think of themselves as Republicans.
I apologize for any confusion. As a conservative who votes liberal as often as not I’m sometimes blind to party identifications. I mean specifically the elected placeholders and their cronies in Washington and elsewhere who have stood aside to let GWB shred the Constitution and make of the United States an emblem of that which is antithetical to all that was right and good in America.
Foley is just a symptom of the raging moral leprosy that has consumed the party. I can’t tell where the disease first fully set in, but Newt Gingrich campaigning on “family values” was the Cheyne-Stokes breathing of true Republicanism.
The party’s corruption neccesitates nothing less than a full governmentectomy. As soon as possible. Fortunately there’s one slated for November.
Once the party has been whacked into the weeds, perhaps it will reconsider its moral responsibilities to the electorate, and in the fullness of time root out the rot and be ready to govern again. Perhaps they’ll even find a real statesman to head it.
To some degree this happens in all democracies–Canada’s Liberal government of a year or two back, Britain’s Labour government. But only the Republican government of the USA has taken the corruption of power so very far over the edge of reason.
You sound like a sincere sort of person, Dave. I hope one day the Republicans prove worthy of your loyalty.
On tolerance, and types of Republicans:
I think the current most visible flavor of “Republicans” are wide open for attacks on their personal moral failings because they are messing with the private lives of all U.S. citizens. In the old days, Republican meant small government. I might have been one now, had they stuck to that. There are still some individuals in the party who have, and who I would still vote for.
That being said, the leadership of the party is now very chummy with the religious right, which is trying very hard to turn the Constitution into an extension of the beliefs of this one very particular and rather new sect of Christianity. The political party is turning into a religious one, and since the contradictions inherent in that seem to fall on deaf ears, all we can do is keep pointing to situations where the hypocrisy is juicy enough to wake up the media–like this case in point.
It’s sad, but nothing else seems to get through the fog.
Seriously, if you want to fight with Metro, fight on Metro’s blog.
I hate it when I miss fights on my own blog.
I don’t care what kind of personality/history the page had, the fact is that the only real issue is: are your kids safe working for Foley? Not if they’re boys, they’re not.
