Yesterday was a typical day at the WordPress.com help forums. And, typically, I composed a rant to blow off some steam. Enjoy:
“Hi there! I’m an expert on web design, although I don’t know what a template is and cannot figure out how to use the search forum box, and I’ve only been here thirty seconds, but you should listen to me. There should totally be a way for people to post text in their blogs. They should be able to type something and have letter-shaped groups of pixels appear on their own unique webspace. What a shame WordPress.com does not allow this! I have posted a solution to this on my blog. See my blog for solutions. My blog is full of solutions.
Also, I’m not smart enough to leave a link to my blog. That is all. Think about my solutions!!!”
Gawd how I love clueless, knowitall newbies. Fresh meat.

But I want to put lots of ads on my wordpress blog so I can make my fortune and buy all Bill Gates Microsoft shares. Oh and I have these cute java programs that let me find the passwords on my visitors computers. Can I put them on my wordpess blog?
I am NOT 13 years old and this is NOT my father’s computer, d00dz.
Seriously, Thank you wordpress for having such a great collection of tech support people, both employed and volunteer – I can never work out who is what. :) All I know is, when evfer I have a problem – it gets solved!
I wish that I could be a web design expert. But sadly, I spent too much time staring at Craigslist and Youtube and have forgotten all HTML code, tips and tricks to do anything creative or fun. …Then [cue fog and harp], I collaborated with two other “creatives” to start WordPress!:)
I’ve been away from the WP.com forums for the past few days, and so it looks like I missed out on some fun yesterday. Anyway, this post is hilarious, especially after getting up to speed on a few of those threads :-)
You can’t lure me in to the forums like that, I miss entire days reading all that…
:)
Welcome to my world. Archie, the people whose forum posts show up with coloured backgrounds are staff, everyone else is volunteer.
Carey, you’re right. There’s nothing on WordPress which is creative or fun and that is, of course, why you’re reading this blog.
I’m still suffering with WordPress over posting photos. My niece has to post for me from her computer, and she has no trouble … neither of us can figure this one out. And while I can’t be counted on to know shit from shinola, she pretty much knows what she’s doing. Frustrating.
When I started off here I had friends asking how to do ‘this and that’ here, Linda, and so I started a very basic sort of ‘help blog’. You might find some stuff helpful here…

Linda, ten to one your friend is using Safari. That’s a known problem; if she switches to Firefox things will probably go smoothly. You can also see the Help forums or click on my tag, Professor raincoaster’s Little Lectures. There are some instructions there for posting pictures.
Thanks for the information
