Bettie Page, the wholesomest stripper the world has ever seen and probably the original model for BOTH Betty and Veronica, is hospitalized in critical condition in Los Angeles after a heart attack. The 85-year-old legend is reported to be in a coma at an unnamed LA-area hospital.

She was very talented. And I can tell she took belly dance lessons, she was much more of a dancer than a stripper.

In a strange coincidence reminiscent of my brush with Chris Crocker, Bettie Page is a native of another east Tennessee town within short driving distance – Kingsport, Tenn.

I did not know that She always seemed so Midwestern to me for some reason. Also: taller. I didn’t realize she was short.
Well, Kingsport doesn’t exactly celebrate her, being a god-fearing all-American model city and a great place to live . . .
