New Beijing Olympic Logo

Beijing Olympic Logo from Beau Bo D\'Or

At that point – I would have you see – the force to which one yielded mingles with one’s will; and no excuse can pardon their joint act.
Absolute will does not concur in wrong; but the contingent will, through fear that its resistance might bring greater harm, consents.

Dante, Paradisio IV 37

The Hand That Feeds: Nine Inch Nails

Alas, once again so much to say at one-thirty in the morning with two hours of work left before bedtime and Wordcamp in the morning. 2. Beau Bo D’Or is as fine a satirical artist as we’ve seen in my lifetime, kinda the Banksy of the blogosphere.

Yes, it’s already censored in China. WordPress.com is censored in China. And Brazil. And Turkey. And Portugal.

The People’s Republic of China belongs to the people not one bit more than it did under Mao; the only difference is, thanks to the parroted belief in meritocracy, they now think it is their fault instead of their venal masters’.

But this post was about much more, as Ian cleverly sensed. More to come on those issues, but in a day or so.

  3. I knew you’d get to it faster than me! Thanks, Jan! It was great meeting you. I’ve seen you at Northern Voice before, but it was good to have a chance to talk. Thanks for the links: Technorati will soon be my bitch!

  4. Anytime you can quote Dante and squeeze in a NIN video, you got a winner.
A sad but truer logo doesn’t exist. :o(
