Say hello to the Olm salamander. Although this lovely amphibious creature lives only in caves underground, it reminds me of the fabled and 100% aquatic Tully Monster of Illinois.
This delightful creature is the deadliest underground predator in the entire nation of Slovenia. Also known as the human fish for its eerie resemblance to a scrawny, pale person, the Olm salamander can live to 100 and go ten years without eating, two more things it has in common with the Olsen Twins.
A great example of the intrinsic supercoolosity of the underwater world. You’ve probably seen the octopus at the end before, because it was all over the net two years ago (and on Pharyngula last year) but it’s worth watching again. The part with the mating squid explains so much, don’t you think?
Here’s our boy George getting busy with the lovely and talented (if somewhat underfed) Tilda Swinton. Somehow I knew, deep within myself (right about there, to be specific) that he would be just as thoughtful as he is decorative.
